These terms apply to ThoughtTyped, a messaging app published by NorthForge Labs (northforge.company). By creating an account or using ThoughtTyped you accept them. In them, "we" and "us" mean NorthForge Labs.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use ThoughtTyped. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We delete accounts that we learn belong to someone under 13.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information, and do not share your account or create one on someone else's behalf.
Live drafts
ThoughtTyped shows the text you type in a conversation to its other participants in real time, before you send it, including edits and deletions. Thoughts and prompt answers work the same way for the audience you choose. This is a core function of the app and cannot be disabled. Do not type anything you are not prepared for that audience to see.
Friends, fans and posts
You can follow other users. People who follow each other are friends, and only friends can message each other directly. People who follow you without you following them back are your fans. Thoughts and prompt answers are shared with the audience you choose when you post them, either your friends or your friends and fans, and are removed after 24 hours.
Anyone who joins or accepts through your invite link becomes your friend, and a group invite link also adds them to that group. Share your links only with people you want to be friends with, and reset your link if it spreads further than you meant it to.
The ThoughtTyped account, marked as official in the app, is run by NorthForge Labs.
Writing receipts and labels
ThoughtTyped automatically generates statistics and labels describing how a message or post was written, such as writing time and number of edits. They are informal features, not an assessment of you or your writing.
Your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit, including your profile photo. You grant NorthForge Labs a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, transmit and display that content solely to operate ThoughtTyped.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse others
- post hateful, violent or sexually explicit content, including in your profile photo, name or bio
- send unlawful content, or content that infringes the rights of others
- send spam or unsolicited promotional messages
- impersonate another person, NorthForge Labs, or its staff
- access, or attempt to access, other users' accounts or data without authorisation
- interfere with, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service
- use ThoughtTyped if you are under 13
You are responsible for the content you send and post.
Blocking and reporting
You can block anyone, remove a fan, and report a person or a post from within the app. We review reports, and we may remove content or restrict accounts that break these terms.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or put the service or its users at risk. You may stop using ThoughtTyped at any time, and you can delete your account in the app under Me → Settings → Delete account.
Availability
ThoughtTyped is under active development. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Features may change, and the service may be interrupted or discontinued.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NorthForge Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or content, arising from your use of ThoughtTyped.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of certain warranties or liabilities, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Changes
These terms are updated when the app changes. We will tell you in the app before a material change takes effect. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Your local rights
These terms do not affect the consumer protection rights you hold under the law of the country where you live. Where those rights conflict with anything stated here, they take precedence.
